BUILDING THE MINIMOTO

Coming from a background in Industrial Design Engineering, crossing over into the mechanical side was a refreshing change of pace. There was something very satisfying about being in the workshop: standing at the lathe, hand-fitting the bearings, and watching the water cutter translate CAD models into real components. Seeing an idea transform into a fully-fledged, working mini-motorbike confirmed why I love this field. It showed how people with different interests and knowledge, but the same goal, can come together and create something awesome, and lastly how important and fun it is to be hands-on and create real things.

CONTEXT

*here is their work.

Seven years earlier, in 2015, the first iteration was built. The initial goals were the same: to showcase in the annual Cortège that Chalmers isn't just about books and numbers, but also about hands-on building and design. This time, however, the minimoto would be fully steerable and a bit flashier to catch the eyes of future Chalmersists ;).
